These pictures aren't in any particular order 'though it's pretty obvious which are from the wedding day

(hint: computer geeks and scientists don't often wear fancy ties or skirts). Seeing the whales go by each day was

marvellous. I had never seen a killer whale before, let alone one so close. Not only could we see the whales but we

could hear them, too: they make a big whooooosh when they surface. Their dorsal fins are an interesting shape -

almost exactly like a modern sail boat's keel - but their snouts are surprisingly blunt. I'm sure it's best for

hydrodynamics but it does look odd. As you can see the house we stayed in is built into the hillside. The roof is

covered in a foot of soil, which is great insulation and looks very rustic. There's one big room that includes

the kitchen and a very spiffy Viking range. The best thing 'though, are the bunk beds along the sea-facing windows

- Prue's on one in this picture. They were the perfect place to read and snooze and watch the whales go by.

So perfect that I actually had a nap on one an hour before our ceremony! Yes, the whole week was very, very relaxing.
